Ducktown, TN is located just north of the Georgia border in the Ocoee River Area
in the mountains of Polk County in East Tennessee.
Ducktown of one of two mining towns that served the Copper Basin area and is
listed on the National Register of Historic
Places. The 1996 Summer Olympic Whitewater Events were held on the
nearby Ocoee River.
Ducktown offers a picturesque atmosphere of quaint shops, several eateries and lodging and in-town
living built into the mountainside.
Ducktown is part of the Copper Basin which includes
Copperhill, TN, McCaysville, GA and a portion of Cherokee County, NC. The
Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding the area
put these towns in a "bowl" -- thus the term 'basin'. The overall effect of the mountains and
variations of seasonal color creates spectacular landscapes that change constantly.
