Hayesville is the county seat of Clay County, North Carolina. You will find a great
combination of small-town charm amongst the spectacular Blue Ridge Mountains, and numerous
lakes, rivers and streams. Due to the mild climate you will enjoy year-round camping, golfing,
fishing, hiking, horseback riding and water sports. There are two spectacular golf courses near
Hayesville. Chatuge Shores offers an 18-hole championship course and borders Lake Chatuge.
Lake Chatuge, boasts over
130 miles of shoreline, much of which can never be developed.
Hayesville has a booming artists' community and offers galleries and quaint shopping
for families and residents of all ages. Whether you come for
a day, a week or a lifetime, you will always find new activities and new
places to explore.
Though it is a quiet community, there is much to do and see. Clay County
and the Hayesville area offers quaint shops, regional theater, fine restaurants, accommodations to
suit any need, festivals, and special events. Of historical interest, are
the Clay County courthouse built in 1888 designated in the National
Register of Historical Places, the Clay County Museum, and John C.
Campbell Folk School.
