Map
Young Harris is located in Towns County, Georiga.
The town of Young Harris was originally named Young Harris College in honor of Judge Young Loftin
Gerdine Harris of Athens. It was soon shortened to Young Harris. Young Harris College,
a private United Methodist-affiliated school, founded there in 1886, is still located
in town.
Towns County was created in 1856 from parts of Union and Rabun counties.
It was named for George Washington Bonaparte Towns, who was the governor of Georgia from 1847 to 1851.
Today, the county offers lush forests, agricultural valleys, streams and a myriad of wildlife.
You are only an hour from Atlanta yet a world away. You'll enjoy championship golf, hiking, horseback
riding, fishing, water sports and tennis. The less adventurous will enjoy arts, crafts, antiquing,
concerts, fairs and festivals.
Area properties include charming cabins to luxury properties.
